Floyd Earl Dalton Obituary

Floyd Earl Dalton, age 78, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died Monday, January 11, 2016, at his home. He was born December 15, 1937, in Mapleton, Kansas, the son of Thomas William Dalton and Ruth Cook Dalton. Floyd graduated from the Uniontown High School and later served with the United States Army where he was stationed on Greenland and Christmas Island. Following his military service, he married Gail Kruger on March 19, 1965, in Ft. Scott. Floyd had been employed as a mechanic for Bill’s Coal Company for many years. He later worked for Jack Hembree Electric. Floyd enjoyed hunting pheasants, going to tractor pulls and watching football as well as attending his grandson’s sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Gail, of the home; his daughter, Angie Barnes, of Encampment, Wyoming, and two grandchildren, Dalton Barnes and Kimber Kratz. Also surviving are two brothers, Ed Dalton and Ron Dalton, both of Olathe, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Dalton and Linda Turner, both of Ft. Scott and numerous nieces and nephews including, Jimmy Turner and wife, Candy, of Devon, Kansas and great-nephew and great-niece, Landon and London Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Robert Dalton and two sisters, Margaret Proctor and Roberta Dalton. Rev. Steve Bell will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 14th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Following funeral services, there will be cremation with burial in the U. S. National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Hospice and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
