Bernice T. Eness, 96, of Garner passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Concord Care Center in Garner. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 14th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. Scott Kozisek officiating. Burial will be at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Little Lambs Preschool. Bernice Thelma Eness, the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Chentland) Eness, was born December 23, 1922 on a farm near Crystal Lake. She was the third of six children. Bernice was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Garner High School in 1941 and began her teaching career at a country school. She then taught second grade at Spencer and later at Clear Lake where she continued until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and LWML. Bernice is survived by sisters-in-law, Karen Eness of Park Ridge, IL, Joan Eness of Clear Lake and Carolyn Eness of Iowa Falls; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judith (Roscoe) McKinney; and brothers, John, Orville, Vergil and Arlyn Eness.
