Luther Arlington Sammons of Dover passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. He was 61. Mr. Sammons was born September 3, 1954 in Dover, Delaware to Luther Sammons and the late Bertha Morris Sammons. He worked in construction as a hot mix operator for 40 years. Mr. Sammons was a member of the Van Club and enjoyed bowling, hunting, playing his guitar and watching NASCAR rooting for his favorite driver Kyle Busch. He was also a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his brother, James Sammons. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Anita Ridgeway Sammons of Dover; sons, Aaron Sammons and his wife Leonia, Luther B. Sammons and Kyle Sammons all of Dover; sisters, Wanda Seeney and her husband Anthony, Shelia Pierce and her husband Herbert and Brenda Sammons all of Dover; sister-in-laws, Lori Sammons of Dover, Debbie Johnson and her husband Jackie of Cheswold, Annette Carney and her husband Norman of Cheswold, brother-in-laws, Chris Ridgeway and his wife Peggy of Dover, Bobby Ridgeway and his wife Judy of Dover, Benjamin Ridgeway of Dover, and Larry Harris of MD; grandchildren, Brandon and Tristen Sammons; Godchildren, Wendy Seeney and Gordon Ridgeway. Funeral services will be held 3PM, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 756 Main Street, Cheswold, DE. Friends may call from 1-3. Interment will be in Fork Branch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE 19904 to help defray funeral expenses.
