Larissa Bailey

Larissa S. Bailey, 88, of Hot Springs, died December 10, 2015. She was born February 7, 1927 in Gorlovka, Ukraine to Vasily D. and Alexandra Solotuchin. At age 16 she was taken prisoner by the German Army, medical group and sent to the Eastern Front in World War II. After surviving 3 years of indescribable horrors, she met and married her husband, US Army Senior Master Sergeant, W.A Bailey and came to Arkansas in May of 1946. She lived in the Little Rock/North Little Rock area for 50 years and resided in Hot Springs in 1996. She retired from the trust department of Union National Bank after 25 years. She was a member of the Women's Welcome Club of Hot Springs where she spent many happy hours with her friends. She was also a volunteer for Levi Hospital. She was a devout Christian, as a child, Eastern Orthodox and for the last 60 years, an Episcopalian. She was a member of Christ Church in Little Rock and St. Luke's in Hot Springs. She loved her God, who guided and guarded her through the artillery and bombs of WWII, her family, music, flowers and her little dogs, Nikki and Dolly. She is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, W.A. Bailey, Jr., her parents, her only sister, Ludmilla Miron, and her dog, Nikki. She is survived by her daughter, Vikki Morgan (Fred); her granddaughter, Lara Morgan Paul, and her great-granddaughter, Morgan Bailey Paul, a special niece, Natalie Parks, several nieces and nephews, and her dog, Dolly. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 14 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Lorrie Slaymaker. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be private. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to the Pulaski County Humane Society, Garland County Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
