Peter Sawicki (High River)

The family of Peter Sawicki sadly wish to announce his passing on December 12, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Peter leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Sylvia, his two daughters Renee Vos and Shonna (Neil) Mitchell. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Carlynn (Levi) Goodwin, Jamie Vos, Jordan Mitchell and Ryan Mitchell as well as two great grandchildren, twins, Lainey and Lucas Goodwin, Peter was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Rosalea Sawicki and two bothers Mike (Liz) Sawicki and Frank (Carol) Sawicki. He is survived by one brother Roman (Betty) Sawicki and two sisters, Anne Siermachesky and Darlene (Ken) Lenyk. Peter grew up at Bruno, Saskatchewan on the family farm where he spent many happy evenings playing Kaiser with his family and friends. He enjoyed other activities such as broomball, hockey, baseball and playing guitar. He and Sylvia moved to High River in 1971 shortly after they married and raised their two daughters. He began employment as a grader operator for the Town of High River in 1971 and retired in the position of Supervisor of Operational Services on May 30, 2003. After his retirement he dedicated some of his many skills to the Full Gospel Church in the areas of maintenance and ushering. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Full Gospel Church, 1802 – 9th Ave SE, High River, Alberta. Peter will be laid to rest at the Highwood Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the High River Food Bank, 119 Centre St. SE, High River.

I have so many fond memories of Peter when I worked in the Town Office many years ago. He was such a very humble, caring person. Hold your memories close to your heart as you take your final walk with your loved one.
