Bobby Lee Button

Bobby Lee Button, age 69, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died early Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the Ft. Scot Manor. He was born August 18, 1946, in Ft. Scott, the son of Merle Button and Mable Dunham Button. Bobby married Judy Hoggatt on June 13, 1964, in Ft. Scott. At an early age, Bobby began working at the family’s salvage yard. He was employed by Win-Vent and later retired from Labconco. Bobby enjoyed bowling and fishing as well as working on cars and going to the races. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s school activities and sporting events. He was a member of the Brethren Church and a past member of the Masonic Lodge, the Mirza Shrine and the Scottish Rite Consistory. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; a daughter, Ginger Hueston and a son, Kevin Button, all of Ft. Scott; three grandchildren, Zak Hueston, Shayla Button and Katie Button; two great-grandchildren, Colby and Paityn; and three step-great-grandchildren, Chey, Dakota, and Sierra. Also surviving are three brothers, Ronald, Ralph and Donny Button, all of Ft. Scott; four sisters, Bonnie Phillips, Mary Button and Merlene Button, all of Ft. Scott and Judy Snow of Elberton, Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Hueston and a grandson, Justin Hueston; and four sisters, Shirley Armstrong, Patty Smith, Tammy Merriman, and Patsy Button. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 17th at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
