Patti Sober Wellington, Kansas Obituary

Patti Sober

Patti (Hughes) Sober, of Wellington, Kansas, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 in Kirkland, Washington at the age of 57. Patti was born the daughter of Edwin "Warner" and Charme (Campbell) Hughes on Thursday, July 17, 1958 in Berkeley, California. Patti was always encouraging and uplifting toward others, she would go out of her way for anyone. Patti will be remembered for her many years of excellent coaching and supporting kids and kids' sports, her willingness to help her community, her desire for adventure, her generosity, and most of all her sweet, loving smile.  She was positive, thoughtful, and loving toward others. While living in Wellington, Patti worked as the Head Teller at Bank of Commerce, taught Sunday School at the First United Methodist Church, coached community soccer and softball teams, and was a volunteer leader of Kids Crusader Club an afterschool program at the FUMC. Patti graduated from Principia College with a BA in Business and French. She excelled in sports, playing field hockey, softball, diving, and gymnastics/dancing. Because of these accomplishments, she was nominated into the Principia Sports Hall of Fame.  She also found time to go on a France Abroad trip her sophomore year and spent the summer backpacking through Europe which began her love for travel and high adventure. After graduation, Patti moved to Los Angeles and began her multi-year career with Weyerhaeuser. She was head of their security and continued working for them even after she moved to Wellington. Throughout this time she continued her love of travel and went on many wonderful trips with friends and family. Her greatest love and accomplishment was being the mom for Houston and Dietra. She loved spending time with them - coaching and watching their sports, going on trips, cooking together, going to church, and making their own adventures. She was at her best when she was with them and loved them beyond words. Survivors include her son, Houston Sober and daughter, Dietra Sober both of Wellington, Kansas; father, Warner Hughes; brother, Robert Regan-Hughes and his wife Alesia, and nephew, Ravi Regan-Hughes all of Kirkland, Washington. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charme Hughes; grandmothers, Mabel "Deed" Campbell and Ethel Hughes, and niece, Sasia Regan-Hughes.
