Alice Becker-Vandegrift

VANDEGRIFT, Alice Esther Moyer-Becker, 85, of Tampa, passed away peacefully Friday, December 11, 2015, surrounded by family, friends and neighbors. She was born in Cincinnati and raised in Milford, OH. Having attended Miami University, she was a lifelong member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and Eastern Star. Alice made homes in Mount Healthy, Cuyahoga Falls and Stow, OH, Dallas, TX, Mill Creek, WA and Tampa, FL. Alice was an active member of the local, state and national chapters of the League of Women’s Voters, as well as sitting on the Planning Commissions of Cuyahoga Falls and Stow. She worked at Alltel, helping to create billing systems for the divestiture of today’s phone systems. She is preceded in death by her father, Alvin M. Moyer; her mother, Esther Drake Moyer; her brother, Alvin D. Moyer; her husband, Richard T. Becker; son-in-law, Matthew J. Neidert; and grandson, Evan Neidert. She is survived by her husband, Ralph “Tom” Van Degrift; her sons, Richard D. Becker (Diane) and Rick Warren; her daughter, Sandra Becker-Neidert; stepson, Russell J. VanDegrift (Carri Lang); grandchildren, Grant Cohoe, Kristen Neidert, Brittany Neidert, Ian Neidert, Victoria Warren, Emily VanDegrift, and Alyssa VanDegrift. Alice loved her family, friends, neighbors, Elves and Baby Elves, and considered everyone she met a special person in her life. She was the driving force behind a family made up not only of blood, but also love. She and her family are grateful for the love and support of Jennifer, Pat, PT Headen, Alex and Maria Rivera. They would also like to thank the staff of Manorcare of Corrollwood for their special care they showed Alice and her family. Alice was the life of the party, no matter which generation she was partying with; therefore, she gets two! A Celebration of Life will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Pebble Creek Country Club. Interment and Celebration of Life Part 2 will take place in Akron, Ohio at a later date.
