Lakewood Ranch, Florida - Henry John Eicken, 90 of Lakewood Ranch formerly of Davenport, Iowa and East Peoria, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 Henry was born January 25, 1925 in Golden, Illinois to the late Adolph John Eicken and late Mildred Emma Buettner. He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Fargo during World War II. He married Irene Jameson on August 23, 1946 in Danville, Illinois. Henry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irene, two of his three children, Jim (Susan) Eicken of Bradenton, Florida and Janette (Alan) Janssen of Lawrenceville, Georgia; four grandchildren Drs. John (Meredith) Eicken, Jessica Eicken, Brina Janssen and Kaitlynn (James) Mayo; one great granddaughter, Kinsley Mayo; two brothers Charles (Joyce) Eicken of Danville, Illinois and Robert (Jo) Eicken of Dunlap, Illinois. He was preceded in death by son David (Jolene) Eicken of Williamsburg, VA and brother, LeRoy (Denise) Eicken of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Henry graduated from Bismarck High School, Bismarck, Illinois in 1943 and University of Illinois in 1949. He worked at International Harvester, as a regional service manager (farm equipment) for 32 years and was well known for supporting farmers and equipment dealers in Illinois and Iowa. Henry was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Henry will best be remembered as an honest man whose priority was always his family and he never complained. Henry was very mechanically inclined and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was also an avid football and baseball sports fan. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center on Saturday December 19, 2015 from 1-2pm followed by service at 2pm at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in Henry’s name to the charity of their choice.
