Joyce K. Snow Bucyrus, Ohio Obituary

Joyce K. Snow

Joyce Kathleen Snow, 80, died Saturday, December 12, 2015 at her residence where she was surrounded by many who loved her. She was born September 16, 1935 in Cedarville, Ohio to the late Wesley and Genevieve (Garthee) Mason. Joyce moved her family to Bucyrus in 1960 where she worked at Timken for 17 years. She also worked at Kaufmann’s and Macy’s Department Stores in Mansfield. Joyce enjoyed 27 years with her husband, Paul C. Snow, Jr. until his death in 2012. They socialized at the Moose where they were both members, shared many car rides and enjoyed many meals at Donatos which was one of their favorite places to eat. She also cherished going to lunch with her longtime friend, Roberta Althauser, whom she met while working at Timken. Joyce enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and reading, but what really brightened her day was any time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was “all in” when they wanted to do something and they were rarely told no, even when she wasn’t feeling her best. Earlier in life, there were many card games played with family and friends and more recently, Joyce enjoyed cuddling with her four legged child, Indera. They watched The Big Bang Theory, Gunsmoke, or Bonanza and this almost always led to a nap. Joyce is survived by three daughters, Melody (Michael) Keirns, Desra (Bob) Stehle, and Cindy (Johnny) Dyer, all of Bucyrus; five grandchildren, Haley Keirns-Jackson, Ashlee (Chad) Linton, Riki (Shannon) Tate, Adam (Amy) Stehle, and Alan Dyer; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Gloria (Ken) Miller; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her oldest granddaughter, Heather Keirns-Mollenkopf; two sisters and their husbands, Barbara (Don) Mercer and Carolyn (Gab) Downey; and one nephew, Wes Downey. Her family will receive friends from 11-1 p.m. Wednesday, December 16 at Wise Funeral Service with her funeral to begin that same day at 1:00 p.m. with Russell Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs. Memorial contributions may be given to either the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society Serving Crawford County through the funeral home. Friends are encouraged to share memories on her Tribute Wall.
