Ava Egnew

Ava Egnew, 63, of Villa Grove, IL, passed away on December 12, 2015 at her home. She was born on March 30, 1952 in Danville the daughter of Edgar and Esther (Mullins) Masengale. She married Stephen Egnew on March 17, 1969 in Watseka, IL and he survives. Ava will be deeply missed by her husband, daughter, Lori Ann (Charles) Vaughan, brother, Danny (Jamee) Masengale, sister, Judy Pittman, brother-in-law, Robert “Buddy” (Yvonne) Egnew, grandchildren; Michael Dunavan, Hayden, Rylie and Gavin Vaughan and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amy Lyn (Richard) Dunavan and a special brother-in-law, Wendell R. Pittman. Her main goal in life was to make her dad proud and gain a career. That career turned out to be motel management. She first ran Baer’s Motel in Hoopeston, IL, then went to work for Tharaldson Enterprises where she ran the Super 8, Comfort Inn, and Fairfield Inn in Danville. She was then promoted to a District Director and oversaw 12 motels in Illinois and Indiana. After leaving Tharaldson she and her husband owned and operated the Lakeview Motel in Salem, IL. Ava ended her career at the Arthur Country Inn in Arthur, IL. Above all else, Ava loved all her family. She will be sorely missed by anyone who was fortunate to have known her. A celebration of Ava’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Sunset Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Danville at 3:00 PM with Duane Piercy officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville.
