Violet "Vi" K. Carson
Violet “Vi” K. Carson, 71, of rural Parsons, died at 3:15 a.m., Friday, December 11, 2015 at her home. She was born September 13, 1944 at Independence, KS, a daughter of Robert Eli and Mary Louise (Morton) Wiltfong. She grew up in Kansas for 10 years, and then the family moved to California, where she attended school and worked numerous jobs as a young person. In 1981 she moved to Parsons, KS. She met and later married Russell Carson on June 8, 1984. In Parsons she was employed at the Parsons Public Schools for 10 years as a cafeteria server. She was then employed at Labette Health for 14 years as a floor technician and received a promotion to Evening Supervisor. She retired in September 2009. Violet enjoyed woodworking, painting and planting flowers and shrubs. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include: her husband – Russell Carson, of the home; one son and daughter in-law – Jimmy Dean and Pam Ward, of Taft, CA; one daughter – Sandra K. Peoples, of Parsons, KS; three grandchildren – Andrew Ward, of Bakersfield, CA; Krystal Wheeler, of Wichita, KS; Samantha Ward, of Parsons, KS; two great grandchildren – Amanda and Kamryn Wheeler, both of Wichita, KS; two brothers and sisters in-law – Jim and Linda Wiltfong, Of Tonganoxie, KS; David and Val Wiltfong, of Beatrice, OK; one sister – Pat Newland, of Clovis, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home with Reverends Irvin and Florence Espeseth officiating. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m., Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to either the American Cancer Society or Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
