Jerry Jones, age 76, of Clarinda, Iowa, entered into peace Friday, December 11, 2015 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 14, 2015 at Braddyville Cemetery, Braddyville, Iowa with Pastor John Heth officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Burial will be in the Braddyville Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa. Jerry Paul Jones was born November 28, 1939 in Shambaugh, Iowa at his grandmother Tribbie’s home; the son of Darold Lavern Jones and Ida Mae (Snyder) Jones. He attended Pleasant Ridge Country School and later attended Clarinda Schools and graduated from Clearmont High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Kay McClarnon on August 9, 1959 in Hopkins, Missouri. They were blessed with three children, Kathy, Mary, and Paul. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army in 1962, serving for three years at Gardner, Kansas Missile Silo. Following his discharge, the family lived in Independence, Missouri later moving to Napoleon, Missouri. He attended the Wentworth Military Academy and graduated with an Associate Degree in 1970. The family continued to live in Napoleon where Jerry served as Mayor. Jerry was manager of Sheltered Workshop, in 1977 at Higginsville, Missouri; in 1988 in Liberty, Missouri and Smithville, Missouri. Prior to his retirement, he drove a truck for the Sheltered Workshop. In 2007, Jerry and Kay moved to Clarinda. Jerry was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church and an active member of the Lion’s Club holding numerous offices. He loved to garden and can his produce. Jerry had a great sense of humor and was the king of corny jokes. He enjoyed playing cards, being outdoors and fishing. His family was very important to him and he loved being with them. Preceding Jerry in death were his parents, Darold and Ida Mae Jones and granddaughter, Kaili Jones. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kay Jones of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Kathy Keen of Independence, Missouri; daughter, Mary Jones of Round Rock, Texas; son, Paul Jones of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Karan Pool of Clarinda, Iowa; nieces; nephews and many friends. Jerry will be missed for his wit and humor. He will be forever in the hearts of his loving family and friends. May the Lord grant comfort and peace to those who mourn his passing.
