Bruce W. Wearne Obituary

Bruce W. Wearne, age 87, of Council Bluffs, passed away November 28, 2015, at his daughter Pat’s home surrounded by family. He was born April 11, 1928, to Dewey and Ruth Blake Wearne, in Bloomfield, Neb. He married Georgia Fleming on November 25, 1948. He moved his family to the Council Bluffs area in 1955, and was employed by Union Pacific Railroad Headquarters in the Freight Account Department. He also served in the U.S. Navy after high school, taking a leave of absence from UPRR to serve during the Vietnam War. He retired as a CPO. During retirement, Bruce and Georgia moved to Fort Collins, Colo., and then Cheyenne, Wyo., before returning to Council Bluffs in 2011. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife on March 31, 2015. They were married 66 years. He is survived by three daughters, Pat and John Wheeler, of Council Bluffs, Marcia and Don Biedermann, of Cheyenne, and Debbie “Sheg” Wearne, and Dan Hoffarth, of Council Bluffs; two sons, Jim and Mary Pat Wearne, of Council Bluffs, Dewey Wearne and Marta Wray, of Wellington, Colo.; one brother, Paul Dewey, of Mountain Home, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Known for his infectious laugh and quick wit, as well as his unwavering love for God and family, Bruce wanted to pass this along: “Good-bye. Hope to see you all later.”
