Edward Paul Chaja La Porte, Indiana Obituary

Edward Paul Chaja

Edward P. Chaja, 64, of Westville, passed Friday, November 13, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 26, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, to Paul J. and Dona Chaja, Jr. He was a lifelong area resident and a retired truck driver, and member of the Teamsters Union Local 142. Words fail to describe Ed as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was his life; he will always be “Dad”, “Gampa”, and “Edsiu.” Ed was a man of many accomplishments. He could make nothing into something from all aspects. Classic automobiles were not only his hobby, but his passion. Ed will always be loved, remembered, and live on through his family. Surviving are his dedicated and adoring wife, Jean; one son, Edward R. (Autumn) Chaja Jr of Rochester, IN; four daughters, Nichol, Donna, and Michelle Chaja all of Westville, IN, and Vallarie Bechinski of Michigan City, IN; mother, Dona Chaja of Portage, IN; one brother, Paul R. (Corie) Chaja of Portage, IN; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father; Paul J. Chaja Jr.; and one brother, Andrew R. Chaja. Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of his life held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at the American Legion Post 295, 710 Water St., Union Mills, Indiana 46382. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
