Edwin Ordonez Bohorquez Obituary

On Sunday, August 18th, 2019, Edwin Leonardo Ordóñez Bohorquez, loving husband and gifted tattoo artist, ended his life at the age of 38. He was born in Popayán, Colombia to Asdrúbal Ordóñez Cortes and Maria del Socorro Bohorquez Girón. He married his wife, Jessica Dunfield, in 2013 and settled with her in Canada in early 2015. Edwin is survived by his wife, parents, sisters Yasmin Eliana and Dalis Adriana, brother Asdrúbal, two nieces and a nephew. Edwin will be remembered for his fits of giggles, his fondness for the sincerest heart-to-hearts, and through his work which will be carried on by the friends and clients that wear his art. He created his first exploratory tattoos at the age of 13. By 20 he had opened his own tattoo shop, Yured Arte Ancestral, in his hometown of Popayán, which he later sold in favour of travel with the intent of bettering his trade under the influence of the incredible artists he met along the way. In this time he made lifelong connections, won awards for his artwork in Peru and Colombia, and met his future wife. He had a habit of touching hearts with his joyful charisma, unrelenting silliness, and sometimes scathing wit. A far-reaching international community mourns his loss. Edwin poured his soul into his final project, Van Bree Tattoo, which he established with his wife in March of 2018. It was to be, in his own words, "his dream shop", born of his more than 17 years of experience in the tattoo industry. Though he succumbed to his private depression, his legacy will not be one of silent despair but of dedication to one's passion, intense love, and above all, hope. A memorial gathering will be held in Mission at the Fraser River Heritage Park on Sunday, August 25th at 4pm.
