Nita A Salerno, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the Gateway Care Center in Eatontown, NJ. Nita was born on April 23, 1941 in Newark, NJ. She began her career as a hairdresser, working hard to become the vibrant owner of her own business, The Gateway Salon in Newark. She was an avid painter and traveled extensively around the world in her younger days. Nita was predeceased by her devoted mother and father Elvira and Nicholas Salerno, of Westfield NJ, as well as her loving sister Della C Bozzo of Andover, NJ. She leaves behind her brother-in-law Dr. Alfred R. Bozzo and his wife Bonnie of Marco Island, Florida; her niece Maria Nanamaker and her husband David of Guilford, CT; her 3 nephews, Alfred R. Bozzo and his wife Terry of Arlington, VA, Nicholas L. Bozzo and his wife Beth of Essex Fells, NJ and Victor Bozzo and his wife Dianna of Flemington, NJ. Nita also leaves behind 9 grand nieces/nephews: Olivia, Emma, Rico, Connor, Francesca, Bianca, Rebecca, Christian and Hayden. A service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ at 11:00 am on this Thursday August 22. Arrangements in care of Dooley Funeral Home, Cranford, NJ.
