Charlotte Lawton

Charlotte Mae (LaPine) Lawton, 91, died peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Hilda LaPine; she was predeceased by her husband Donald “K” Lawton and son Douglas Craig Lawton. Charlotte was born in Elizabethtown, New York on March 4, 1928. She graduated from Elizabethtown High School, and then attended Albany Business College. She married Donald June 1, 1947. She was a member of BPOE 2480, Eastern Star, VFW, Helderberg Reformed Church, GCFD Auxiliary and a VA Hospital volunteer. Charlotte was employed by the Tom Sawyer Motor Inn, Master Cleaners and Guilderland Center Nursing Home. She spent the last 5 years in Queensbury, New York near her daughters. Charlotte is survived by her two daughters and daughter-in-law, Sandra Lowder (Gavin), Andrea James (William) and Nancy Lawton; seven grandchildren, Eric Lowder (Lisa), Mark Lowder, Sarah Hutchings (William), Adam James (Danielle Dauber), Dirck James (Whitney), Trina Schanz (Steve) and Pamela Woloszyn (John); nine great-grandchildren, Erica and Gavin Lowder, Lily and William Hutchings, Dirck and Carter James, Alexis and Lawton Schanz and Craig Woloszyn; her sister-in-law Marion Lawton, her niece Joy (John) Sacco and nephews Bill (Barb) and Tom (Patty) Lawton. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Fredendall Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, Altamont, New York on Saturday, August 31, from 1-3 p.m. A funeral service will follow immediately at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service in the Fairview Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in Charlotte’s name to the Helderberg Reformed Church, PO Box 196, Guilderland Center, New York 12085.
