Paul A. Mencaroni, 87, of East Longmeadow, passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Born in Springfield, son of the late Umberto and Palmyra (Bracci) Mencaroni, he was a graduate of High School of Commerce, a longtime member of the former Verde Club, and was active with the Boy Scouts. He moved to East Longmeadow 45 years ago, where he was a devoted communicant of St. Michael’s Parish, and also worked for 23 years at Met Life Ins. before retiring in 1990. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and building clocks, playing the accordion, gardening, playing Wednesday night pitch at the Hampden Senior Center, and especially traveling with his wife. Paul was the beloved husband of 57 years to Dorothy (Peczka) Mencaroni; a loving father to Michael Mencaroni and wife Ruthanne, of Long Island, NY, and Paula Collins and husband Shane, of Troy, NH; a cherished grandfather to Michael and Anthony Collins, Tyler Dade, Julia Mencaroni, and Michael Mencaroni, Jr.; a dear brother to the late Columbia Mencaroni, and Sue Connaughton; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Paul are on Wednesday, August 21 from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Family and friends may then gather on Thursday directly in St. Michael’s Parish in East Longmeadow at 12:00pm for a Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to D’Amour Cancer Center 3350 Main St. Springfield, Ma. 01107 or American Lung Association (lung.org)
