Kernersville – Mr. Casstevens was born to the late John Henry and Cora Inez Beck Casstevens on June 6, 1931 in Yadkin County, NC. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Arvil retired from Kaysor Roth, formally known as Burlington Socks where he worked as Master Technician responsible for knitting machines. In his duties for Burlington Socks, he went to South Africa and Italy to inspect knitting machines for purchase. Arvil also served the local church, House of Prayer, Kernersville Full Gospel Mission, and Crossroads Ministries as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Board Member, and worked as part of the construction/maintenance crew in building the House of Prayer. He was a dedicated Christian and the impact he made on peoples’ lives will dearly be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hawks Casstevens; a daughter, Arlene Casstevens Alford; one sister, Mozelle Shore and one brother, Jack Casstevens. Surviving are his children: son Wayne (Elizabeth) Casstevens; daughter Doris (Ronald) Pinyan; seven grandchildren, Allen (Jaime) Casstevens, Eric Casstevens, Steven (Jennifer) Pinyan, Dana (Chris) Beeson, Ryan (Hannah) Pinyan, Blake (Ashley) Pinyan, and Nick ( Amanda) Collins, ten great grandchildren, Hailey Casstevens, Midajah Hunter, Cassidy Pinyan, Summer Pittman, Kellie Pinyan, Emily Beeson, Courtney Beeson, Caleb Collins, Kyndal Collins, and Zayden Pinyan, four sisters; Malzie Beasley, Annie Mae (Billy) Holder, Irene (Dennis) Blackburn, and Alene (Bill) Cail; seven brothers; Paul Casstevens, Richard(Sandra) Casstevens, Delmer (Linda) Casstevens, Billy (Billie Sue) Casstevens, Charles (Karen) Casstevens, Graham (Sandra) Casstevens and Homer (Shirley) Casstevens, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Doris Pinyan and Rev. Darrell Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the funeral home.
