ROCKAWAY TWP. – Joseph Franchak died on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Franciscan Oaks Nursing Home in Denville. He was 92. Born in Jermyn, PA, he lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years before moving to Rockaway Twp. in 1960. Mr. Franchak was a custom cabinet maker and owner of Joseph Franchak Custom Furniture in Brooklyn, NY. He later worked at Lincoln-Mayflower in Madison before retiring in 1986. Mr. Franchak served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Rockaway and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1991. He is survived by his son, Glenn and his wife Elaine of Rockaway Twp., and three granddaughters, Kristen (& Tim) Jones, Megen and Loren (& John) Campanile. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 11:00 AM at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
