Dottie Okon

Dottie Okon

Dottie Okon, age 70, a resident of Plainfield, IL and formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2019. She was born on December 16, 1948 in Chicago, IL. Dottie is survived by her loving daughter, Dorell (Richard) Michalowski of Plainfield, and her cherished grandsons, Seth and Cody Michalowski. Beloved nephew Danny (Anna) Okon. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Okon; her father, Frank and her mother, Margaret. Dottie loved drum corps. She marched with the Norwood Park Imperials, Royal Airs & Men of Brass. She met some of her best friends as a Riflechick and traveled around the world following a newfound love of the Moody Blues. She went to countless shows and got to meet the band (several times!) 25 years ago, on a dare to herself, she started clogging. She fell in love again and was very dedicated to the group practicing every week with summers full of performances from downtown Chicago to Springfield IL. If you knew Dottie, these activities weren’t quite the same unless ice cream was involved. Above all else, the love for her daughter and her grandsons was limitless. Extremely humble, Dottie has no idea how many lives she has touched and how deeply she will be missed. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 & 59, Plainfield. A celebration of Dottie’s life will be at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
