Steve died unexpectedly at home on Wednesday morning, August 14th, 2019 Steve was born in 1959 in Easton. Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Gena Donmoyer Scott: his brother Jon Schmehl (Sue): his brother Eric Schmehl (Karen): Schmehl nieces and nephews Ellen, Adam, Joshua, Nicholas, Jacob: Mother-in-law Ann Donmoyer: brothers-in-law Eugene and Jon Donmoyer: nephew Jason Donmoyer Preceded in death by parents Ruth (Krimen) and Blaine Schmehl: Father-in-law Gene Donmoyer: beloved Border Terrier Greta After working several years as an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil he completed a Bachelors of Physics from Lebanon Vallley College: 2 Master of Science Degrees from Capital College: Masters Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology: Master of Business Administration from Jack Welch Management Institute: 3 Graduate Certificates. He worked at ISC Defense Systems and ISC Technologies in Lancaster, PA, followed by Unisys in Maryland and spent the remainder of his career working for NASA at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt where he earned more than 26 Awards & Honors. He became Chief Engineer in 2001, holding that position until his death. He recently was recognized by United Airlines for having flown 3 million miles. Steve was fiercely devoted to his wife, his dog, and his job. He enjoyed music and language studies and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, reading thousands of books. He was amazingly well versed in the sciences, art, philosophy, medicine and virtually every other subject on earth. He was wicked funny, kind and generous. Steve was incapable of shopping without adding a gift to the cart for someone, most often a child or dog. He had a passion for Egyptology, and informed his wife that he had commissioned the building of a pyramid in Egypt for his family’s final resting place. At Steve’s request no services will be held. He cherished his dog Greta and wanted to offer help to rescued border terriers with the North American Border Terrier Welfare group.
