Mary Lou (Dinkins) Mitchell Johnson was born to Lee and Hattie (Petersen) Dinkins on June 9, 1927, in Tekamah, Nebraska. She passed away, with her loved ones surrounding her, on August 15, 2019, at Arbor Care Center in Tekamah, Nebraska, at the age of 92. As a child, Mary Lou attended Silvercreek Country School. She attended Tekamah High School, where she graduated in 1944. On May 17, 1945, she married Calvin Mitchell; he preceded her in death in January of 1984 and they had 5 sons and 3 daughters. On July 6, 1994, Mary Lou married Raymond Johnson in Sioux City, Nebraska; he preceded her in death October of 2008. Mary Lou was a hard worker her entire life. Along with raising her seven children, she often babysat for other families and cleaned houses. She worked outside the home for more than 10 years at the Sharlo trailer factory in Tekamah while also taking care of 5 of her grandchildren at home. She loved gardening, crocheting, making quilts and afghans, baking, and spending time with her family. Her lovingkindness will be remembered by everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Hattie (Petersen) Dinkins; sister, Nancy Dinkins; husband, Calvin Mitchell; husband, Raymond Johnson; infant son, David; sons, Jim Mitchell in 1989 and Joseph Mitchell in 2016. Survivors include her siblings, Vera Schrantz of Springview, Nebraska, Shirley Clark of Rockford, IL; children, Art (Mary) Mitchell of Tekamah, Kathy (Scott) McGowen of Tuscan, AZ, Linda Harold of Craig, NE, Carol Mitchell of Tekamah, Don Mitchell of Craig; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews
