George Milton Beason, Jr. died at home Tuesday, August 13th. George grew up in Huntsville. He graduated from Huntsville High School and the University of Alabama where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Upon graduation from Cumberland School of Law, George joined the FBI as a Special Agent. In 1972 he returned to Huntsville and, with Doug Martinson, Sr., founded the law firm of Martinson & Beason.
George was involved with numerous civic organizations and served on boards including the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission, the US Space Camp Foundation, Huntsville Land Trust, and Huntsville Beautification Board. He enjoyed the fellowship of long time friends in the Easy Street Investment Club. George was an avid golfer, runner and Alabama football fan, and he loved spending time at the beach.
He was predeceased by his father, George Beason, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Beason; mother, Winifred Beason; daughters and sons in law Wendy & Gary Tucker, Elizabeth & Bert Moore, Jennifer & Bobby Douthit; brother and sister in law Tommy & Jan Beason; grandchildren Drew & Mary Wynne Tucker, Vivian & Jane Beason Moore, George & Ella Douthit; nieces, nephew, many extended family members and his wonderful caregivers.
The funeral service will be Thursday, August 15, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
