Dear brother of the late Arthur, the late Gwen Thompson (late Burns), the late Phyllis Wellman (late Les), Melvin (Patricia), the late Owen (Pauline), the late Clyde (Dorothy), and Lorna Coffin (late Harold). Brother-in-law to Ruby Keats (Cecil), Bernice Foote (Frank), Maurice Burt (Muriel) and (late Rita), Hector Burt (Cavel), the late Marjorie Samson (Gordon) and the late Theodore “Ted” Burt. He will be fondly missed dearly by all his nieces and nephews and extended family. Mr. William (Bill) Ryburn Elliott - From 1949 -1954 served in The Royal Canadian Navy as a marine engineer on HMCS Haida, HMCS La Hulloise, HMCS Quebec, HMCS Cape Breton and finally on HMCS Huron in the Korean War stationed off coast of North Korea. He was discharged in the rank of Leading Seaman in 1954. Upon his return and discharge from the Navy, he married the love of his life, Madeline Burt in Peterview, NFLD on September 5th, 1958. On September 12th the newly wedded couple set out on their adventure and new life together. They packed their belongings into the car headed to the main land and then headed for Ontario. As his career progressed thereafter, he worked at the Kingston Penitentiary as a Stationary Engineer from 1958-1965, moved to Ottawa to continue his career at Bell Northern Research from 1965-1969 and then completing his career at Algonquin College from 1969-1996 before retiring. After spending 40 years in Ottawa, and being involved with the Salvation Army Church in their spare time, with all their friends, along with being a Scout Leader, the couple decided to sell and move to Lakefield, Ontario for the next 10 years, to be able to spend their golden years being closer to all their own siblings, who were now living nearby. Dad loved his fishing time up at the Madawaska Church Camp, going with his friends out on Lake Ontario from time to time and enjoying his cottage and family. Always keeping busy, he was an amazing woodworker, loved to cook and always loved making his famous bottle pickled sweet beets or his mustard salad. For our immediate family Bill/Dad/Pop/Gramps was the most amazing man who never really talked alot but always gave everything he had to the ones he loved so dear. We will miss you terribly but we know we will see you again sometime….....Enjoy your long extended fishing trip! A special thank you to all the Staff, Nurses, Doctors at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre – Rideau 2 North – 2nd floor for all the care and support you gave Bill. In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations to be made to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre 1750 Russell Road, Ottawa, ON K1G 9Z9 or the Salvation Army Ottawa Citadel 1350 Walkley Road, Ottawa, ON, K1V 6P6.
