Ronald F. Saccone

Ronald F. Saccone of Seekonk, beloved husband, father, and grandfather (referred to by his grandchildren as “Guppie”, “Buckie” and “Papa”), passed away Friday, August 9, 2019 at the age of 84. Born in Providence, Ron was the son of the late Nicholas and Anita (DalPian) Saccone. He was married to his wife Jean (O’Brien) for almost 62 years, with whom he had three children. Ron spent his life making sure his family and friends knew that they were loved and supported. Over the years, he attended his grandchildren’s sporting events, dance and piano recitals, art shows and graduations. He had weekly phone calls with those who lived farther away, taking the time to catch up and share stories. The depth of his happiness stemmed from the love of his close-knit family. His family’s happiest memories of Ron involve time spent together; from beautiful vacations in the Caribbean and Italy to quiet Saturday afternoons playing card games with Jean (even though he’d say “Jean always wins”). His quiet and calming presence, coupled with his gift of listening to words both spoken and unspoken, brought great peace to those around him. Because of that, he found himself the confidante for many of his grandchildren over the years, which was a role he gladly accepted and excelled in. Ron found much joy in nature and could often be found watching the birds in his backyard, taking walks, and gardening. An avid golfer, he enjoyed much of his retirement on the golf course with Jean and their friends. Ron was a small-business owner, where he served the people of Seekonk and the surrounding areas for over 35 years. To him, the most meaningful part of his job was building friendships with his customers. He was a longtime board member of the Huntington Lakes Homeowners Association in Naples, Florida. In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter Susan Saccone-Sullivan and her husband Mark of East Falmouth, his daughter Lori Barao and her husband Mark of Myrtle Beach, and his daughter Lynn Mowry and her husband Tom of Seekonk. He also leaves eight grandchildren: Lauren, Andrea, Kara, Michaela, Alexandra, Allison, Christina, and Nicole; as well as four great-grand pets: Claire, Loki, Pepper, and Basil. He is survived by one sister, Evelyn Belanger; a nephew, Edward Belanger, and a niece, Linda Ricci. We miss him dearly. Ron’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Seekonk. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241-4238.
