Mamie Lou Powell, age 97, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Fairview Park Hospital. She was born May 22, 1922 in Swainsboro, Georgia to parents Benton Powell and Louella Kite Powell. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Powell Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of New Home Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother who loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She loved everyone and welcomed everyone in her home with a cup of coffee and something sweet. To know her was to love her. She is survived by her two sons Ambros (Lynn) Powell of Wrightsville, Leonard (Sue) Powell Jr. of Dublin, her daughter Gayle (Durell) Woodard of Rentz, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Powell will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at New Home Baptist Church with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Rev. Burton Dixon and Rev. Phil Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Stanley Funeral Home in Wrightsville, Georgia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Home Baptist Church. Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel has charge of funeral arrangements.
