Shirley Elaine Humpert

Shirley Elaine Humpert, 94, of Reese, died Friday morning, August 9, 2019 at her residence. The former Shirley Elaine Webber was born June 26, 1925 in Bay City, daughter of the late Harold C. and Ethel (Bye) Webber. She was a graduate of Bay City Central High School. On January 8, 1949 she was married to James “John” Humpert in Reese. He predeceased her July 20, 1984. Shirley was a homemaker most of her life and a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. She was known for her culinary skills, especially the pies she made, and also enjoyed dancing. Surviving are her children and their spouses; David and Kathie Humpert of Saginaw; Sheryl and Ron Connelly of Bay City; Deborah and Norm Kolhagen, Karen Humpert, Michael and Sue Humpert, all of Reese; Janice Helmuth of Loveland, CO; and Jeffery and Kendal Humpert of Midland; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and her sister; Bonnie Conover of Pendleton, Indiana. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was predeceased by her son-in-law, Scott Helmuth and three brothers, William, Harold, and Lawrence “Bobby” Webber. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Father Christian Tabares will officiate with the Rite of Committal to follow in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery. Shirley’s family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or Shirley’s family.
