Neva Humphrey, age 88, of Clarinda, Iowa entered into peace Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM with the family greeting friends. Interment will be held at the Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Clarinda Fire Department. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa, where we ‘Celebrate Life’. Neva Eilene McCall Humphrey was born to Walter and Artie (Luna) McCall May 20, 1931 in Sidney, Iowa. At an early age, she moved to Council Bluffs and then to Clarinda. She graduated from Clarinda High School with the class of 1950. Following graduation, she worked in the Page County Treasurer’s office for two years. When Don Humphrey, who was in the United States Air Force, came home from Korea, they were married December 17, 1952. They lived in Bryan, Texas for two years while he was stationed at the Air Force Base there. When Don was discharged, they came back to Iowa where he re-enlisted at the Sioux City Air Base. They lived near Sergeant Bluff, Iowa for four years. When he was discharged, they moved back to the Clarinda area where they spent the rest of their lives farming. Don and Neva had five children: Terri, Donna, Gail, Richard and Mary. In addition to raising her family and helping with the farm, Neva worked several years part-time for the Southwest Iowa Farm Business Association, raised a big garden and lots of chickens. She enjoyed being with her family, Cowboy Church, REAL Country music, reading and doing puzzles. Neva belonged to the Hawleyville H.E.O. Club and she and Don belonged to the Circle 8 Square Dance Club for over thirty years. Preceding Neva in death were her husband, Don Humphrey; parents, Walt and Artie McCall; brother, Jack McCall; son-in-law, Deloy Towne and great grandson Gibson Wagoner; in-laws, Bill and Mary Humphrey, Dale Humphrey and Leo Humphrey. Left to cherish Neva’s memory are her children, Terri and Mike James of Minier, Illinois, Donna and Doyle Wagoner of Clarinda, Iowa, Gail Towne of Corning, Iowa, Richard Humphrey of Clarinda, Iowa and Mary Humphrey of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Kate James and Yen Tran, Jenny and Brent Chandler, Zach and Kisha Wagoner, Aaron and Angie Wagoner; great grand-children, David James, Ruby and Henry Chandler, Cael and Drake Wagoner, Adalyn and Anabelle Wagoner, Linus and Mina Tran; sister, Dorothy Durfey; brother, Junior McCall and wife Judy of Clarinda, Iowa; brother-in-law, Vern Humphrey and wife Marilyn; sisters-in-law, Jan Humphrey and Jo Humphrey; lots of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
