Obituary
Aubrey Hart Feb. 23, 1943 - Aug. 9, 2019 La Grange-In the early morning hours of August 9, 2019 Aubrey Isaac Hart left this world to enter into his heavenly home. Aubrey was born in Lenoir County to the late Isaac “Ike” Taylor Hart and Edna Chase Hart on February 23, 1943. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Suellen Hart. With Aubrey there was absolutely no middle ground; you either really liked him or you really didn’t. There was never any question as to where you stood with him. To those who knew him best, he was always a funny and vibrant personality. Always loud and boisterous, Aubrey commanded the attention in any room he entered. He lived to have a good time and was the life of the party. Aubrey’s life was a testament to Frank Sinatra’s famous lyrics, “I Did It My Way.” Aubrey was always on the move, as he would say, “like a fart in a whirlwind.” He worked at Sasser Lumber Company as a delivery driver for many years. After retirement, he continued to work small side jobs doing plumbing repairs. In earlier years, softball was a big part of his life. Aubrey was a proud member of the USSSA Softball Hall of Fame. He was a member of the La Grange Fire Department for 34 years. His world revolved around the fire department and he always invested his time and efforts in whatever was going on there. One of his favorite times of the year was the fire department’s annual barbecue plate sale. Aubrey’s job was to chop and season, and if you tried a plate, you understood that he knew what he was doing. Always a homebody, Aubrey loved to be out in his garden or up in his treehouse. Aubrey was one to never throw anything away. He was crafty and creative, and he could find a way to repurpose just about anything. Aubrey said that it was packed tight “like a hair in a biscuit” but he always knew exactly where everything was. With a quiet generosity, Aubrey had a way of touching the lives of others without them ever knowing. Though he may come across as a bit rough around the edges, Aubrey’s heart was generous. He recently accepted Christ as his Savior, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is with Him now. A service to honor and remember Aubrey’s life will be held Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:00 at Rouse Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon at Rouse Funeral Home between the hours of 2-4 p.m. Aubrey is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kathryn Gray Hart; two children, Charles Wesley Hart, and Kelley Hart Black and husband, Jody; and two grandchildren, Issac Black and Audrey Black.
