Stephen Bruce Phelps

Stephen B. Phelps, 72, of Fort Mill, SC, died Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at his home. He was born in Centralia, IL on October 25, 1946 the son of Wendell “Pete” and Eva Phelps. Steve and his wife, Carolyn, owned Star Scan Satellite, Wallpaper Wallpaper, and Mattress Factory Outlet in Springfield, IL for 14 years and then Blinds and Carpet Direct in Fort Mill, SC for 10 years. He previously worked in sales. Steve loved God and enjoyed playing trombone and singing in church, especially when with his daughters. He liked to golf and always had a story or joke to tell. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Carolyn (Garde) Phelps; daughters, Jennifer of Springfield, IL and Jaclyn of Fort Mill, SC; brother, Michael Kevin of Springfield, IL; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10 at Palmetto Funeral Home, 2049 Carolina Place Dr, Fort Mill, SC, preceded by a visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses or to Samaritan’s Purse.
