Mary Anne Calder, 91, of Edgerton, KS passed away Aug. 6, 2019 at Evergreen Community of Johnson County. Graveside service 12:30 pm Mon., Aug. 12, 2019 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Mary will be in state from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Mon., Aug. 12, 2019 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evergreen Community of Johnson County. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Mary was born Oct. 7, 1927 in Pueblo, CO to Clayton Arlin and Ruth Elizabeth (Crenshaw) Heydon. She grew up in Phoenix, AZ and later moved to Topeka, KS where she graduated from Topeka High School in 1946. Mary married William Earl Calder on Jan. 28, 1948 in Topeka, KS. After marriage they lived many places; settling in Edgerton to farm in 1976. She worked as a secretary and underwriter for Dodson Insurance in Kansas City, MO; retiring in 1989. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church, Topeka, KS where her father was a pastor. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Gardner, KS but was currently attending Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Olathe, KS with her family. Quilting was Mary’s passion. She was a member of the Ottawa and Baldwin City Quilters. Mary worked for the Gardner Food Pantry during the year but helped with meals especially during the Christmas season. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, in 2007; three brothers and two sisters. Mary is survived by her children; Dudley Calder, Huntley, IL, William Arlin Calder, Gardner, KS, Brooke and husband Larry Newton, Longwood, FL and Scott and wife Mary Calder, Edgerton, KS; six grandchildren: Matt, Pete, Aaron, Mary, Clayton and Emily and three great-grandchildren.October 7, 1927 - August 6, 201910/07/192708/06/2019
