<p>SOUTH THOMASTON – Eleanor Louise Curtis Nash, 91, died peacefully at home, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 following a brief illness. </p><p><br></p><p>Born May 23, 1928 in Ash Point, Owls Head she was the daughter of Elmer D. and Kate Heard Curtis. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Lawry Nash; her granddaughter Aine Elizabeth Taylor Knight; her sisters, Marian Curtis Marston and Gwen Curtis Marston; as well as her son-in-law John R. Taylor, III. </p><p><br></p><p>Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Kelly Nash Taylor, Mary Kate Nash Grierson and her husband Bill all of South Thomaston; her brother Oliver H. Curtis and his wife Betty of Owls Head; and many nephews and nieces. </p><p>Eleanor grew up in her beloved Ash Point and graduated from Rockland High School, Class of 1945. She married in 1946 and worked as a legal secretary before moving to South Thomaston where she became a homemaker and mother. Eleanor lived in her home for 71 years. As a woman of faith, she was a member of the Grace Pentecostal Church in Rockland and later was affiliated with the Peoples’ United Methodist Church in South Thomaston. </p><p><br></p><p>Known for her beautiful flower gardens, Eleanor enjoyed her home both inside and out. She had a flair for decorating and was known for her famous yard sales. She also enjoyed good times with family at her cottage on Ballyhac Cove. Over the years she had many wonderful friends including, Anne Tyler and Diane Petterson. </p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of Eleanor’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Peoples’ United Methodist Church, Chapel Street, South Thomaston. The Reverend Michelle Wiley will officiate. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aine Taylor Knight Educational Fund, c/o Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main Street, Ellsworth, ME 04605; which assists students in RSU #13 in many ways. </p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter &amp; Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.</p>
