Darlene S. Seus

Darlene S. Seus, 91, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday morning, August 6, 2019, at Jennings McCall II in Forest Grove. DARLENE SILVIA SEUS was born October 11, 1927 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of the late Edward Podrasky and Silvia (Chehak) Podrasky. She was raised and received her early education in Cove Orchard, Oregon, until moving with her family to Portland, Oregon, where she completed her education. She graduated from Madeline Parochial High School Class of 1945. Following her high school graduation, she attended Marylhurst University, having received a bachelors degree in education. Darlene had taught school at the St. Stephen Parochial School in Portland, for several years. She was united in marriage to Bernard "Bernie" Seus on April 15, 1950 in the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Portland. Following their marriage, they made their home on the Seus family farm in Hillsboro. They remained in the Washington County area, until moving to the Jennings McCall Retirement Community in 2013, where she had resided since. While living in the Hillsboro community, she was a member of the St. Matthew Parish and since moving to the Forest Grove community, she had been a member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. Darlene was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Among her special interests, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. She also enjoyed painting and woodcarving of landscapes and wildlife, especially birds. Darlene was also an excellent seamstress, creating clothes for herself and her family. Her real gift was music, singing professionally and playing piano by memory. She loved to entertain her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie, on April 30, 2014 in Forest Grove, after celebrating over sixty-four years of marriage together. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Silvia Podrasky. Survivors include her six children and their spouses, Stephen Seus and his partner, Donald Ross, of San Diego, California; Carol and Terry Grant, of Langley, Washington; Marilyn and Larry Landauer, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Diane and Randy Lederbrand, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Theresa and Loren Mayer, of Bend, Oregon and Linda and Darrel Mayer, of Gaston, Oregon. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
