Cresaptown, MD – Homer Edward Liston, 91, of Cresaptown, MD, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at his home.  Born July 12, 1928, in Accident, MD, Mr. Liston was the son of the late Harry Edward Liston and Effie Alberta (Hockman) Liston. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Mary Mae Liston: his half-brothers: Lawrence and Blaine Hetrick; his son-in-law: David Shaffer; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  A graduate of Oakland High School, Class of 1946, Homer was a United States Army Veteran, Manager of H-P Stores, and retired from Super Shoes. He was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church; the Ali Ghan Shrine Club; the Motor Corps; the Scottish Rite; the Grand Lodge of WV A.F.&A.M., the Ripley Lodge #16 where he received his 50-year pin.  Homer enjoyed woodworking and working on projects around his home.  He also enjoyed playing cards with friends at the senior citizen center in Oakland.  Homer is survived by his daughters: Beverly Shaffer; Debbie Rowan; and Candee Armbruster and husband, Jim; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, August 8, 2019, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, August 9, 2019, at 10:00 A.M., with Reverend Bernadette Ross officiating.  Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens.  Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by V.F.W. Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the WMHS Home Hospice, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502.  The family would like to give a special thank you to Katie Gandolfi, Roberta Whetzel, and Nikki Bonner from the VA, and also Cathy Martz and Tammy Quesenberry from Tender Loving Care, as well as WMHS Home Hospice, and Jim “Frankie” Rowan, for all the care and compassion given.
