Harold L. "Whitey" Hitchcock

Harold L. “Whitey” Hitchcock, Sr. 84, of Pecatoncia, IL died at 2:10 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Pearl Pavilion in Freeport, IL after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 24, 1935 in Pecatonica, IL the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice and Mae (Meiers) Hitchcock. Harold graduated from Pecatonica High School class of 1953. Whitey served in the U. S. Navy during peacetime. Harold married Carol L. Gunther in Pecatonica, IL on November 2, 1968. Harold farmed all his life and also worked for Hitchcock Builders. He is a member of A. W. Rawson Masonic Lodge #145; Freeport Shriners . Survivors wife: Carol; sons: Harold (Nikki) Hitchcock, Jr, John (Staci) Hitchcock; daughter: Julie (Scott) Bean; grandchildren: Ariel, Sheldon, Gage, Dakota, Cheyanne, Shelby, Lavendar, Rebel and Rhiannon; sister in law Florence Hitchcock; nephew Maurice Hitchcock. He is predeceased by his parents, grandson Lane and brother Eugene. A masonic ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2019 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington St. Pecatonica, IL with the memorial ceremony presided by Reverend Nord Swanstrom officiating. Cremation Rites were accorded and final resting place to be Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to: Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago 2211 N. Oak Park Ave. Chicago, IL 60707; Wounded Warrior Project 230 W.
