Giovanna Libertella, a longtime resident of White Plains, New York, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 98.


Born on December 21, 1927, in Cattolica Eraclea, Sicily, Giovanna was the beloved daughter of Ignazio and Vincenza Amato. She married Antonino Libertella on November 11, 1947, and together they made their home in Cattolica Eraclea before immigrating to the United States on December 21, 1966. The family first settled in Glassboro, NJ, and later moved to White Plains in 1973.


Giovanna was a talented seamstress who took great pride in her work. She was also a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in White Plains, where her faith remained an important part of her life.


Giovanna is survived by three loving children; Angela (Michael) Vinci, Vincenza (Pietro) Tutino, and Charles Libertella.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Antonino Libertella; her son, Ignazio Libertella; her sister, Antonina Lucia and her brother, Pietro Amato.
