Gail Ann Sherrill Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for the love she shared, we announce the passing of Gail Sherrill on July 21, 2026. Born on June 29, 1960, in the heart of Illinois, Gail was a beacon of warmth and creativity, her life marked by a deep appreciation for family, nature, and the simple joys of life.

Gail was the beloved daughter of Mary W. Hattaway and Donald J. Forrest, who predeceased her. She was a devoted wife to Bruce Sherrill Jr., with whom she shared 43 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories. Gail's spirit of adventure was evident in her love for Harley rides with Bruce, and their shared passion for the outdoors, particularly their cherished Jeep rides to Cataloochee to watch the majestic elk roam freely.

A gifted artist at heart, Gail found joy in painting and creating arts and crafts. Her creations were a testament to her vibrant spirit and creativity, often reflecting her love for the natural world. She also delighted in family cookouts, and sharing her love of music with her children. Her favorite artist was Elton John.

Gail's legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bruce Sherrill Jr.; her son, Bruce Sherrill III and his wife, Tonya; her daughter, Sabrina Gaddis and her husband, Joshua. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Klover Rayne and Ezra Gaddis, whose lives she enriched with her love and wisdom. Gail is also survived by her brother, Jeffery Forrest and his wife, Kate, as well as a cherished niece and nephew.

Gail's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and boundless creativity. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we say goodbye, we find solace in knowing she was at peace, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
