Clarence Nathan Lovett, age 87, of Thorsby, passed away on July 24, 2026, at Cedar Ridge Veterans Facility in Clanton, Alabama. He was born in Bon Secour, Alabama, on January 24, 1939, the son of the late Nathan David Lovett and the late Lela Ophelia Price Lovett.

Clarence honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he served as a truck driver. Following his military service, he continued his career on the open road as a professional truck driver, spending more than 20 years with Poole Truck Lines.

He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, which remained his favorite pastime throughout his life. Clarence also possessed a strong faith in the Lord and formerly served as an associate pastor at Mt. Olive Road Church of God.

Later in life, Clarence found great joy and purpose through his service with the Earth-Bound Angels Ministry. He faithfully served as the head cook for ministry functions and was known for his genuine love and compassion for children. Each Christmas season, Clarence delighted in portraying Santa Claus for the children served by the ministry. On one occasion, even after being injured in an accident, he insisted on fulfilling the role so that none of the children would be disappointed. His dedication reflected the generous heart and selfless spirit by which he lived.

Clarence is survived by his daughter, Angel “Nita” Lynn of Clanton; grandson, Shannon K. Lovett of Calera; granddaughters, Susana Lovett of Clanton and Chasity Davenport of Gardendale; great-grandchildren, Glenlie Davenport and Winston Davenport; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Foshee and Smiley Price; and brother-in-law, Buddy (Diane) Price.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Price Lovett; his parents, Nathan and Lela Ophelia Lovett; brothers, Lamar Lovett, Kenneth Lovett, Thomas Lovett, Royce Lovett, Paul Lovett, and Bobby Lovett; and sisters, Bonnie Lovett and Evelyn Burton.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home, with Bro. Justin Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial with military honors will follow at 1:15 p.m. in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of new, small, and unwrapped toys be made to Earth-Bound Angels, located at 909 Shannon Drive, Clanton, AL 35045. These toys will be distributed to underprivileged children during the upcoming Christmas season, continuing a ministry that was especially dear to Clarence’s heart.
