Robert C. Conroy Obituary

Robert C. Conroy of Java Center, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo at the age of 84.

He was born on December 19, 1941, in Buffalo and was a son of the late Frank and Maria (George) Conroy Sr.

Bob was the former owner and parts manager of Conroy Motor Corporation in Java Center, where he enjoyed serving generations of customers and took great pride in helping others. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted parishioner of the former St. Patrick's Church in Java Center where he found great joy in sharing his gift of music as a member of the church choir and singing in barbershop quartets. After St. Patrick's closed, Bob became a member of St. Mary's Church in Arcade.

Bob embraced every season of life and found happiness in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, cross-country skiing, birdwatching, tending his garden, or gathering with family at Pa's Pond, he appreciated the simple pleasures and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by those he loved. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed many friendly games of cards and horseshoes that were always filled with laughter.

Service to others was one of Bob's greatest passions. He was a proud 65-year member of the Strykersville Volunteer Fire Company, where he dedicated countless hours to his community. One of his proudest accomplishments was establishing the Venture Program through the fire company, inspiring young people to become first responders and encouraging the next generation to serve others.

Bob was also a lifelong sports fan who faithfully cheered on the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bisons, and the Cleveland Indians.

Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, celebrating their accomplishments, sharing stories, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He will be remembered for his warm smile, generous heart, unwavering faith, gentle kindness, quick wit, and the genuine interest he took in everyone he met. His legacy of love, service, and compassion will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rita (Killian) Conroy, whom he married on November 23, 1963, at the former St. Patrick's Church in Java Center. He is also survived by his children: Jeffrey (Betsy) Conroy of Williamsville, Karen (Shane) Green of Byron, Brenda (Dennis) Kohl of Clarence, Keith (Kelly) Conroy of Sanborn, and Sarah (Adam) Miga of Goodyear, AZ; his grandchildren: Dylan (Marilyn) Conroy, Jacob (Isabella) Conroy, Julia Conroy, Samuel Conroy, Lilian Conroy , Quinton Conroy, Hannah (Tyler Perry) Green, Maylee Green, Connor Miga, and Sophie Miga; his great-granddaughter, Helen Conroy; his siblings: Shirley (the late Dennis) Sharon of Locust Grove, VA and Carol (John) Schiltz of Strykersville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and his extended family, the Vega family of Mexico.
