Sharon Lynn Goode, 77, of Maggie Valley, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Born on February 3, 1949, in West Virginia, Sharon was the daughter of the late Garland Nichols and Dorothy Cyrus White. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Rennie Garland White.

Sharon earned her bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University and devoted her life to education. She was a dedicated teacher at Waynesville Middle School and Smoky Mountain High School. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her creativity; a gifted craftsperson, Sharon had the remarkable ability to transform the simplest materials into beautiful works of art.

Beyond her professional life, Sharon found happiness in the beauty of nature and the companionship of animals. She had a deep love for flowers and was a passionate advocate for animal welfare, generously volunteering her time at local animal shelters. An avid birdwatcher, she especially cherished the family of crows she faithfully fed each day. Her beloved cats and chickens brought her endless joy and companionship.

Left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband of 35 years Phillip Goode; her children, Zach Goode (Kelly), Kimberly Lee (Walter), Jennifer Suggs (Kevin), Matthew Monroe, Kimberly Goode Mathes (Johnny); her brother and sisters, Steve White, Shirley Worrell, and Sandra (Steve) Adam, and Vivian Cyrus; her grandchildren, Andrea Henson, Matthew Warren, Ricky Beasley Tanner Suggs, Taylor Suggs, Laurel Goode, Taylor Mathes, Hayden Robinson and Jacob Robinson; and five great-grandchildren, Aden Henson, Kylee Henson, Macie Henson, Ryker Beasley, and Finnegian Beasley.
