Biniam Afework Woldehiwot was born on September 26, 1970 to his parents, Afework Woldehiwot and Abrehatsion Gebremariam, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

He attended elementary school from grade one to eight at Dejach Yilma Kebena School, and then high school at Kokebeh Tsibah in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He studied civil engineering in college and graduated in 1994.

Biniam moved to Vienna, Austria in 1999 and lived there for 18 years. During that time he became a father when his daughter Abigail was born. He later moved to the United States and married Ms. Sara Tadesse and lived a happy life in Hartford, Connecticut.

He was involved in a tragic car accident on July 14, 2026, and after three days of being cared for at St. Francis Hospital, he sadly passed away on July 17, 2026. He was surrounded by many people who loved him dearly and respected him deeply.

Friends and family are invited to Samsel and Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road in South Windsor, on Thursday, July 23 for his funeral services to be held from 11:30 AM -1:00 PM. Burial will follow immediately at Wapping Cemetery, 50 Oakland Road in South Windsor.
