Geraldine Pfeiff, 96, of Peoria, Arizona, died May 20, after rallying on her last day to enjoy three meals and converse with her daughters, niece, and a friend in the afternoon. She passed away peacefully after she had finished her dinner.
Mrs. Pfeiff was born Nov. 15, 1916, the daughter of William D. and Jane E. Parrott in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to East Moline, Illinois where she attended school, graduating from United Township High School in 1934. After graduation, she was employed by the H.J. Heinz Co. On July 14, 1947, she married Milton Arthur Pfeiff. Mr. Pfeiff died in 1981. In 2004, she moved to Arizona to be closer to her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jean Scholfield, Harriett Taylor, Estelle Fisher, Verna Chambers and brothers William, Vince, Charles, and Joseph.
Throughout most of her life, Mrs. Pfeiff was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline. When she died, she had been a member longer than anyone else in the church’s history. Mrs. Pfeiff was active in United Methodist Women, Rotary lunches, and many other church activities. She was an accomplished musician and church organist, serving the congregation for over 50 years.
Her children, Joe Pfeiff (Michelle). Jane Isaac (Dean), and Mary Cornelius (Michael) all of Peoria, Ariz., and Tom Pfeiff (Lisa) of Merced, Calif., survive her. She was loved by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be May 23 in Phoenix. A service in East Moline will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline.
