Louis "Lou" R. Geracie 

June 17, 1950 - July 14, 2026

Louis (lovingly known as Lou), age 76, passed away on July 14, 2026, at Horizon’s Lawlis Family Hospice Center in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Lou was born on June 17, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI. He was a Milwaukee native for much of his life, growing into a man whose life was marked by deep loyalty to his family, and genuine kindness to others. He was a graduate of Milwaukee Washington High School in 1968, then served in the Army Reserves from 1970-1972. From there, he went on to build an impressive career spanning more than 40 years with US Bank in Milwaukee. Through his long years of service, he earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike, not only for his dedication to his work, but also for the warm and thoughtful way he treated those around him. 

Family was at the center of Lou’s life. He was preceded in death by his parents Mathew and Dominica Geracie, as well as his loving spouse of 40 years, Judith Geracie. Lou was a wonderful father and is survived by his sons, Matthew (Helen) Geracie and Anthony (Pamela) Geracie. He was a proud grandfather to Molly, Lena, Sophia, and Wesley Geracie, treasuring every moment spent with them. Lou also held a special place in his heart for his fiancé, Lana Anderson, who brought him companionship and joy in the latter part of his life.

Lou was a beloved brother to Connie (James) Handlos, Ted Geracie, and his late sisters Sally Geracie and Christine (Ron) Kempf. He was also a cherished uncle to Jacki (John) Kubiak, Laura (John) Mroz, Brian (Sarah) Handlos, Shaun (Alyssa) Geracie, Brandon (Aaron) Insko, Stephanie Kempf, Michael (Sarah) Kempf, and Daniel Kempf. Lou leaves behind many special friends from all stages of his life as well, many of whom have been friends with him since childhood.

Those who knew Lou will remember him as loving, kind, and thoughtful. He had a warm spirit and a generous heart, and he showed his care in both simple and meaningful ways. He loved all sports and would often attend local sporting events with his friends. He enjoyed following and supporting everything his grandchildren participated in. Whether it was competitive dance, basketball, baseball, softball, hockey, or football, Lou was always interested, always encouraging, and always proud. His enthusiasm and attendance at their activities reflected the deep love he had for his family and the joy he found in being involved in their lives.

Lou’s legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved him, in the lessons he taught by example, and in the many lives he touched with his gentle and thoughtful nature. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

Funeral Services for Louis R. Geracie will be held on Friday, August 7, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 12130 W. Center St., Wauwatosa, WI 53222, with a visitation from 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.

After completion of church services, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held from 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM for all who can attend at O'Donoghue's Irish Pub, 13226 Watertown Plank Rd., Elm Grove, WI 53122.

Private interment to be held at a later date.

Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and therapy staff at Froedert Medical Center, Lakeview Rehabilitation and Specialty Hospital, Edenbrook Lakeside Nursing Home, Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, and Horizon’s Lawlis Family Hospice Center for their unconditional care and attention throughout the last 5 months of Lou’s life. Your efforts and impact will never be forgotten.
