Robert Loy O'Brien, 69, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly.

Robert was born on September 3, 1956, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Sherill O'Brien and Virginia Marie (Barker) O'Brien.

Robert worked for many years as a truck driver. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

A man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, Robert loved spending time hunting and spending time with his dog, Sarge. He especially enjoyed working alongside Owen in the garage, tinkering on projects and fixing things. Those moments, along with the time spent with his family, brought him great happiness.

Robert is survived by his beloved daughter, Angela O'Brien; two grandchildren, Aaliyah Slone and Blayne McFarland; great-grandchild, Ky'Aire; his brothers, Ronnie (Denise) O'Brien and Jeff (Beth) O'Brien; his sister, Vicki (Bruce) Sigman; his sister-in-law, Nancy O'Brien; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Foust; parents, Sherill and Virginia O'Brien; his brother, Roger O'Brien; and significant other, Jackie Stevens.

Robert will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his willingness to work with his hands, and the time he treasured with those he loved.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Monday, July 27th 2026, at VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.

Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 P.M. with Bruce Sigman officiating.

Burial will take place at Range Cemetery in Midway, Madison County.
