Mary Gibson Dehart Obituary
Mary Jane Gibson Dehart, 85, of Andrews, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, July 20, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend.
Born on March 2, 1941, in Haywood County, Mary was the daughter of the late Ruth Gibson. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by a son Boyce “Bo” Hensley; a brother and sister, Hobert Gibson and Eva Mae Szilli; and a great granddaughter, Amy Nicole Franklin.
Mary dedicated her life to caring for others, giving unwavering love and compassion as a caregiver. She found the greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved taking care of her garden, bird watching, and reading her Bible, and attending church. She was of the Baptist faith and lived her life guided by her faith and love for others. Mary shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Doodlebug, who brought endless joy to her life. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to those she loved and will be remembered as an outstanding mother whose kindness and selflessness left a lasting legacy.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Ron Hensley (Tammy) and Joyce Hensley; a daughter in-law Teresa Hensley; her siblings, Floyd Gibson and Rosa Moody; nine grandchildren, Mellisa, Michelle, Lucas, Christina, Adam, Alisha, Bryan, Amy and Josh; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are Bryan Hensley, Hunter Hensley, Lucas Hensley, Adam Franklin, Greg Siler, and Walter White.
