Flossie "Jean" Kelsey Obituary
Flossie Jean Kelsey, a long-time South Nyack resident, died peacefully on July 20, 2026, at age 93. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was born in Pensacola, Florida, on November 20, 1932, to Lottie and Francis Keith. She was a graduate of Nyack College. She also earned a degree from Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Falls, Georgia, where she met the love of her life, Merle Kelsey, in 1955. They were married for 60 years. She was predeceased by her husband Merle, her daughter Rebecca, and her nephew Edward Cook. She had many siblings: Opal Hughes (deceased), Maxine Singleton, Frankie Keith (deceased), Carmen Joy (deceased), George Keith (deceased), Fred Keith, Carolyn Kircharr, Eileen Warrick, Joe Keith, Gail Sanders, Kenny Keith, and Stacy Keith. She leaves behind two children, her son Timothy Kelsey, and daughter-in-law, Donna Kelsey; and her daughter, Deborah Corbett, and son-in-law, Gerard Corbett. She cherished her grandchildren: John Corbett, Christopher Corbett and his wife Jessica Corbett, Michael Corbett and his wife Kimberly Corbett, Jean Corbett, Jena Hartnett and her husband John Hartnett, James Kelsey, Tara Kelsey, Catina Cook, and Edward Cook. Flossie was also blessed with many great-grandchildren. After retiring from her career as a teacher in the North Rockland School District, she had many hobbies that kept her busy and brought her great joy. Visitation will be held at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 South Broadway, Nyack, NY, on Friday, July 24, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A service will take place during the visitation at 6:30 PM. A burial will be on Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 AM, at Oakwood Cemetery in Deposit, NY.
