Michael Scott Goodman Obituary
Michael Scott Goodman passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy Goodman; father of Nathan (Carrie) Goodman and Joshua Goodman; proud grandfather of Conner, Megan, and Morgan Goodman; brother of Rhonda (Willie) Wilson; and brother-in-law of Janet (Gary) Malcom. He was uncle to Kirsten (Steve) Klug, Kelly (Matt) Crawford, and Cody (Tara) Younker. Michael is also survived by cousins and caring friends.
Michael was born on June 21, 1945, in Taylorville, Illinois, to the late Roy K. Goodman and Lois M. (Ozee) Goodman.
He graduated from Taylorville High School in 1963 and Eastern Illinois University in 1967, where he was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He also served in the United States Air Force for seven years. In 1975, he and Nancy moved to Wisconsin, where he opened and operated his State Farm Insurance agency until his retirement in 2010.
He was a charter member of the International Chili Society and won several state championships throughout the country, qualifying for and competing at the national chili cookoff several times. He was also a passionate horse racing fan and attended the Kentucky Derby for 25 consecutive years. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and a devoted fan of Wisconsin sports teams.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers or HAWS.
