Judy Catherine Whitley, 77, peacefully entered her eternal rest on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, surrounded by the compassion and care of those who served her during her final days.

 

A graveside service to celebrate Judy's life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sanders Chapel Church Cemetery in Smithfield with the Reverend Jason Gabbard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

 

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her devoted family, including her two sons, Jonathan Lee Jackson (Janet) and Corky Jackson (Tammy); her daughter, Lori Jackson; her sisters, Patricia Oliver and Edith Pittman; her four cherished grandchildren, Heather, Kaylee, Ethan, and Caleb; and her three beloved great-grandchildren, Riley, Emeleigh, and Cayden. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

 

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Inez Whitley; her two brothers, Roger "Bo" and Harvey; and her sisters, Elizabeth, Nora Mae and Jean Carol.

 

Throughout her working years, Judy was employed at Big Boys Truck Stop in Kenly, where she formed many lasting friendships and was known for her hardworking spirit and kindhearted nature. She appreciated life's simple pleasures, valued time spent with those she loved, and found joy in watching her family grow through each new generation. Her quiet strength, caring heart, and unwavering love for her children and grandchildren will be remembered always.

 

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love Judy shared and the memories she created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy is one of devotion to family, perseverance through life's challenges, and a gentle spirit that will never be forgotten.
